The Honeymoon Frock

This week has been a bit of a drought in the opshopping department, seems I spoke a little too soon. Never mind thought it would be fun to share my favourite frock find in quite some time thrifted on our honeymoon late last year (that Renoboy is definately a keeper). It has now become a "communal frock" in our family of girls with lots of oohing and aahing over this little number! It reminds us of Marilyn. Smitten Kitten x

Dear Pearl Photoshoot

Yesterday we had so much fun on our first photo shoot for Dear Pearl Vintage, thanks to the gorgeous Nadine of Abstract Exposure and my babe, who looks absolutely beautiful despite the crazy heat. Only ten days to go, we will be uploading sneak peaks onto our facebook page over the next week and announcing a fun vintage giveaway.
Happy Saturday x

Purple Rain

The wet season has arrived in Cairns, playing havoc with my photography endeavours this week but so good to finally hear rain on the tin roof, cooling things down a little. I've started naming our Dear Pearl frocks after songs from the eras they come from, lots of fun, this one is Purple Rain in honour of todays deluge and that funny little man called Prince.

Channelling My Inner 1950s Housewife

So yesterday I decided first thing Monday I would buy a mannequin, after trying plain backgrounds, coloured backgrounds, pretty coathangers, floral hooks and even the back of my grandmothers old wardrobe, I felt I needed something to give the clothes photos for Dear Pearl a bit more dimension so here she is, isn't she gorgeous, I have spent the day dressing her up, kind of like playing dolls for big girls. SQ has decided to name her which could prove interesting the last time she named the cat we ended up with Princess Diamante. Speaking of cats don't you love this old photo from Life Magazine. I've always wanted a black cat instead I have a ginger with serious codependency issues.

Inspire Beautiful

I love to read interviews of fascinating people but none have inspired or moved me as much as that of Milliner, Behida Dolic, who moved from Bosnia to the USA in 1998 as a refugee of the Balkan War.

What does handmade mean to you?
Handmade to me means a reaction from a stranger that goes something like this: ”Oh my God, where did you get that beautiful thing?” Then we both smile and the answer is mutually understood."
The interview can be found here.
Behida's etsy shop featuring her spectacular cloches can be found here

I've been playing in the pretty room, organising, photographing pretty vintage frocks for Dear Pearl and generally fluffing about, it has been the perfect day topped off by the perfect muffin just brought to me by RC fresh from the oven, love you Mads xx

Did you know that Myers offers full replacement on all Wedgewood, Johnson, Royal Doulton pieces if anything gets broken in the first two years? Simply take the broken pieces in with your receipt for a free replacement on all pieces. Myer have implemented this so the "good china" no longer gets tucked away and never used for fear of breakage.
